According to David Drummond, the Chief Legal Officer at Google, the company has put measures to protect Android from a hostile campaign organized against it by Apple, Oracle and Microsoft among other companies.
David issued the statement via a blog post stating the said companies are waging their campaign through bogus patents. Google said the companies are trying to use patent litigation to prevent the availability of Android. The internet giant says these companies are using the dubious patents to impose so-called taxes on Android devices to make them costlier to the users. This is intended to make it more difficult for makers to sell the devices.
Google has vowed to fight against the patent litigation with all its might, describing it as anti-competitive. In addition to getting its own patents, the company will seek the government to oversee the recent patent auctions.
Almost all major smartphone manufacturers have patent litigation issues with their competitors.
