Samsung Electronics of Taipei, Taiwan announced the release of the new S5K8AA image sensor system-on-chip. It has a 1.2 megapixel, 1/8.2 inch CMOS designed to support video telecommunications with high definition (HD) video for devices that are less than three millimeters deep. Samsung sees a future market for the S5K8AA in Smart phones and tablet PCs for a front facing camera to allow video conferencing.It will support 30 frames per second at HD and 60 frames per second at VGA.

Kenny Goldie of the Goldie Group, a Leading manufacturer of refurbished telecommunications devices, sees a growing market for chips such as the S5K8AA. The growth of the 4G communications network and more devices using CMOS will increase demand for these products.
