The U.S. Department of Justice has decided to set its review of the Google/Motorola acquisition on hold since it mandated that Google and Motorola both provide more information about Google’s intent. The information the Justice department has requested has not been disclosed to the public, but this is occuring in response to Google’s announcement regarding its plan to purchase the Motorola company, thereby giving it access to a tremendous number of Motorola’s patents such as the set top box and handset/headset businesses. Google and Motorola are hoping to close the mutual deal by the end of 2011 or the very beginning of 2012. As COO of the Goldie Group, Kenny Goldie intends to follow this transaction closely and analyze its potential impact as it unfolds.
